JalinePol's Limited Edition Giclees

Her origin like that of Matisse, is in the flatlands of the North, but it was Africa in 1979 that she found herself swept up and destabilized by the surrounding colour. She was irresistibly drawn to the local multi-coloured robes and wrappings and began to fabricate single piece dolls. She discovered batik at this time and also began to try her hand at her first oils. When she returned to France in 1984-1985 JalinePol attended the Beaux-Arts until leaving for the South Pacific. She then worked on water colours, paintings on silk, and pastels. She continued with her wax on batik works, which, right from the beginning involved her participation in a number of exhibitions in France and in the South Pacific. When she came back to France in 1987, she took lessons in oil painting from Luis Ansa, who instructed her in the techniques but left her free enough to make her own way towards the impressionistic bye-ways she was drawn to. When she went back to her home in the town of Lille, she attended the Septentrion workshop, and worked on developing her own themes. It was at this time, in 1993, that she had her first solo show of oil paintings.
